Making the Choice to Have Pets

A doodle dog has some poodle in their genetic makeup. For example, a Goldendoodle is a mix between a golden retriever and a poodle, and a Labradoodle is a mix between a Labrador retriever and a poodle. An Australian Labradoodle has one of those dogs in their makeup, but they also have other breeds in the makeup. Those dogs include an American cocker spaniel, a curly-coated retriever, and an Irish water spaniel. The Australian Labradoodle can be a good pet for you and your family.    

Service Animals

Like many other breeds, this dog breed was created with a particular goal. They were bred so that they could be service animals. Labrador retrievers are often used as service animals, and poodles are very smart and can be trained easily. Those things are important to any dog that might become a service animal. However, just because the breed was created to become service dogs doesn't mean they aren't good family dogs. The same traits that make a dog a good service dog can also make them a good pet. 

Temperament

The Australian Labradoodle is generally a smart dog. Being smart means that they are relatively easy to train. It also means that they can get bored if you don't spend the time to prepare them and give them things that might challenge them. For example, giving one of these dogs a toy that dispenses treats if they move it the right way can be a good thing for one of these dogs because they get a treat and are given something to do so they don't get bored. A bored dog will find trouble. If you can provide them with some kind of task to do or some tricks that you can run through with them daily, that can also help to fight off boredom. The Australian Labradoodle is also a very loyal dog, meaning they will put you and your family at the top of their list. Since they are friendly, they may meet nothing but friends, but you will always come first in their eyes.
